Greetings from Guatemala!
It is election time in Guatemala and with that comes a lot of unrest
throughout the country. Protests and road blocks are happening almost
daily now due to a movement to have the current President step down from
his position. When you add in the normal political gatherings and
parades trying to get around anywhere can be a nightmare. The first
round of elections will take place this coming Sunday, September 6 with a
runoff planned for October if necessary. Would you be in prayer for
Guatemala as they elect a new leader? Pray that it would all take place
in a civil way and end peacefully.
There
have been a lot of political rallies taking place lately. Sunday is
the biggest day for political gatherings because it is the day when most
people are off work. This has caused some interruptions in our Bible
studies. Thankfully the people we are working with in the villages
always let us know ahead of time so that we can plan to avoid the area
when something political is going to be taking place. We will most
likely be laying low until the election process is over but are looking
forward to getting back on track soon with our Bible study times.
Please continue to pray for the villages of Nearar, Muyurco, Porto
Suelo, Lagunetas, Churischan, Chanco, Corral de Piedras, and Tunuco
Arriba that blinders would be removed from the eyes of the people and
they would begin to see their need for a Savior. Pray for us as we
continue to build relationships with the people living in these areas
and share the Gospel with them.
We
began homeschool last month and are on week four. So far it has been a
very smooth process and things are going great. Thank you to everyone
who has been praying for us during this new phase of life. What a
blessing your prayers have been to us!
It
is always an encouragement to hear from you all and to know that we are
being prayed for. It is a great reminder that we are not in this
alone. Many of you give to offerings that support us and just as
important many of you give of your time to pray. We cannot thank you
enough for the sacrifices you make for our family and others like us
around the world. We can't do it alone. We need your help and the part
you are playing is helping us spread the Gospel to those who
desperately need to hear it. Please keep praying. Please keep giving.
When you do it helps us do our part of telling the Good News of Jesus
Christ. Thank you!
