January 2015 Newsletter

Greetings from Guatemala!  Happy New Year everyone!  We wrapped up 2014 with our two Bible studies going strong in Lagunetas and Nearar.  We made several visits to the villages of Chanco and Churischan during the past month.  We look forward to seeing how the Lord is going to work in those villages in this new year and how He is going to allow us to share the Gospel with the precious folks who live there.  We did not make any visits to the village of Tunuco Arriba but hope to return there soon.  It is our desire to have an on-going Bible study in all five of these villages in the months to come.  Would you join us in praying for that?

Pray also for a medical team that we have coming down the last week of January to work in the village of Chanco.  It is our partner church from First Baptist Church, Mt. Pleasant, SC.  They will be doing a medical clinic there on the 26, 27, 28, and 29th of this month.  Pray that the love of Christ would shine greatly through all of us as we minister there together and that we would see much good fruit come from it as a result.

This month we will be on the move, literally.  When we returned from our Stateside Assignment back at the end of June we were given permission to move closer to town if we so desired.  At first we were not very interested but later began to explore some housing options in the Chiquimula area.  We have found a house near there to rent and will be making the move towards the end of the month.  It was a hard decision to make but is one that I feel sure we will be happy with when we get there and get settled in.

With that move will bring a new school for Cruz and possibly for Ben as well (if we decide to send him).  The new school year begins here in Guatemala later this month.  We will start looking for options beginning next week with plans to begin classes the first week of February.  It will be a lot of transition for our family and especially the boys so we would appreciate your praying for us as we make the move and get adjusted.  Nothing will be changing about our job just where we live.

We are excited about the new year and are anxious to see how the Lord is going to use us here in the coming year.  We anticipate great things and know that your prayers are going to be a great part of all that happens.  We couldn't do it without your love, support, and prayers and we say "thank you" in advance for the prayers that you will pray for us in the days, weeks, and months ahead.
