Greetings from Guatemala!
We've been back from the States now for two months and I feel like I'm
starting to catch my breath some and feel back at home. A lot has
happened in these two short months. The month of August was all about
getting back into the groove of things. We got both of our Bible
studies back going and actually did four this past month. We had two in
the village of Nearar and two in the village of Lagunetas. Both are doing well and it felt like we picked right up where we left
off. It was hard to imagine that it had been eight months since we taught in both areas.
In addition to our Bible study time David was in the village of Lagunetas
twice with the Ag team from Honduras making some visits and checking on
projects. We are thankful for the way the Ag work has helped open the
door for us to teach in that village and also for our Honduran Ag
partner, Noe, who faithfully came over to continue our Bible study while
we were in the States. I think that helped us being able to transition
back to it so easily.
We
are also looking to partner with a local former pastor in this area
Bro. Javier who has a desire to help us get an open door in the village
of Tunuco Arriba. He and David made a trip there in August to make some visits. When the Lubeck's (Chorti
Bible Translation Team) return from the States we will all
begin visiting there together. It seems as though we are getting an
open invitation to begin a work in the school with the children and
possibly begin a ladies Bible study there. Would you join us in praying
for the timing and details of both of these?
We made a visit to the village of Chanco
to meet with a believer who lives there about starting a Bible study
group in that
village. One of the U.S. Partnerships we will be taking over is with
this village. They will be sending down a team in October to work
alongside of us there. Our goal for that week is to get an open door to
begin teaching there and to spread the word about it to the locals.
Would you join us in praying for a new Bible study group to get started
in that village?
Family wise we are all doing great. Cruz started
back to Spanish preschool last month and is really enjoying it. We
celebrated David's birthday last month with a fun family trip to Esquipulas,
Guatemala. We love going out into the villages and being on mission as
a family. We are blessed to be able to do that together. Continue to
lift us up as we continue to serve Him here among the Chorti of Guatemala. Your prayers are a great source of encouragement to us.
