On Saturday morning while Ben was taking his nap Cruz and I walked into town to see what was going on at the fair. Our town's annual fair was Thursday- Saturday of last week. What we'll remember most about the fair was the large amount of fireworks and the very loud, constant music. Here in Guatemala they like to shoot some type of firework that literally sounds like a cannon going off. Each of those three mornings they would start shooting it every few minutes from around 3:00 a.m. to about 6:00 a.m. We are not sure of the significance of that but it drove us crazy! They would continue off and on all throughout the day. They had two huge fireworks displays on Thursday night and Saturday night at around 10:00 p.m. That is when they shot the big pretty things that light up the sky. I wish the boys could have seen them but they were both sound asleep. We wondered each night how in the world they could sleep through all of the noise, but thankfully they did. Needless to say, we were glad to see the fair packing up yesterday afternoon.
Cruz and I did have a fun time walking around and looking at everything. At some point they had a small rodeo. Cruz enjoyed getting to see some of the animals that were still there from it. He also liked looking at all the booths. I let him play at the park for a while and then he rode some of the rides. I was a little nervous about him getting on a few of them, but it seemed harmless. The rides were powered by hand so they did not go very fast for Cruz and stopped when he was ready to get off. He had a lot of fun and I enjoyed seeing the smile on his face.
This ride was pretty tall for a two year old, but he wanted to ride it. The locals that were standing around were amazed that he had no fear. I assured them that I had enough fear for the both of us, haha. He loved it!
I also enjoyed getting to spend a little quality time just the two of us. I think he enjoyed having his mama all to himself as well. He really is a fun kid!
