We spent Tuesday morning of this week in the village of Lagunetas. Dan Watson drove over from Honduras to join us.

Our purpose was to meet with the village leaders and present to them our plans to have a group of young adults from their village be trained at the Chorti Baptist Development Project in Honduras.
Dan began the meeting by reading some scripture and sharing a bit.
He then began proposing to them our plans. He shared with them the purpose and requirements for the program. He has decided to do a modified six week course for them which will be spread out over six weekends. We are limiting it to 12 people. Both male and female can attend. The village leaders will choose which 12 from their village are to be trained.
We have decided to begin the training the first weekend in November. They will meet the first three weekends in November, break for us to celebrate Thanksgiving, and then finish out the first three weekends in December. The training will take place in Honduras. David and I will miss the first weekend because we will be returning from the States during that time. We will join them on the other weeks and incorporate Bible storying into their sessions. We are not sure how we are going to balance that out with our current Bible studies we having going on in the village of Nearar on Sundays, but we are praying about it.
We left them with 12 applications for the students to fill out. Dan made plans to return on Oct. 8 to meet with the leaders again and also the 12 whom they will select to be trained. We'll be in the States and will miss that meeting, but will update when we hear about it from Dan. It was a very positive meeting and the leaders were very happy with this idea.
David closed our meeting in prayer.
Pray for these leaders as they seek to select these twelve young people. We are praying that they will be twelve with hearts ready to hear and accept the gospel. We do hope that this training will eventually help meet many of their physical needs. But mostly, we hope that it will be a time for them to be set apart from their normal lives, and that God could begin to work in them. We would love for when the training is over for them to have a desire to continue to study God's Word and invite us into their homes to continue sharing. Would you pray for that also?
I love this picture!
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
