Greetings from Guatemala! It's hot y'all! We are starting to really find out just how warm it gets here in the Peten. Our temps have been reaching the 100 degree mark for over a week now, and we expect it to get hotter this month. We have been spoiled with some cooler than average temps since we moved here, but it is making up for it now. Other than that all is well around here!
We spent two weeks of March in the States visiting with our families. We had a wonderful time there with them. In addition to a lot of family meals and gatherings we were able to spend a little time at the beach enjoying Spring Break with our nieces and nephew. It was a refreshing time. All in all we did a lot of eating, a lot of shopping, and a lot of running around, but had a fantastic time doing it. Thanks for praying for our trip home!
We visited the mission in La Libertad the first of March and helped lead services there. I led some songs and David taught the Sunday School lesson and preached during the worship time. We asked you to pray that the Lord would send them a pastor and we are happy to report that they now have one! We attended the service today where they made it official. Please pray for Bro. Rigoberto and his wife Berta. They are a young couple with three small kids. Pray that the Lord would use them to reach the K'ekchi' in that area and grow the small mission church there.
Also during March we attended the monthly Pastor's Conference in Sayaxche. The WMU ladies were meeting that month so I got to spend some time with them.
David helped do another recording session for the "Institute of the Air". They recorded twelve new stories that will begin airing on the K'ekchi' radio stations later this month. Please pray for the radio ministry, it's workers, and the programs that are aired. Many K'ekchi' churches have been planted as a result of this outreach.
In addition to celebrating the death, burial, and resurrection of our Lord and Savior this month we have several services that we will be attending. Please pray for our travel as some of these services will be at night. The main thing we have going on during April will be an Indigenous Summit that will take place April 26-30 in Coban. This is the third year for this conference and will be the first that we will be able to attend. This will be attended by indigenous groups from all over Central America and the push will be to challenge them to go beyond their people group and help reach other groups who have yet to hear the gospel. They will also be able to share their struggles with each other and get encouragement from those going through similar situations. Please pray for God's anointing on these days!
Cruz will turn eleven months old on the 26th of this month. We cannot believe he is fast approaching one year old. We will be celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary this month as well on the 27th. We are thankful for each year the Lord has given us. It has been an amazing fifteen years!
We appreciate your taking the time to read our updates and pray for us. It is very encouraging when we hear from you and know that we are prayed for. Thanks! Until next time...
Sending our love,
David, Regina, and Cruz
