September 2010 Newsletter

Greetings from Guatemala!  This will be our last update from Antigua and as Spanish language students. Last week we took our oral exams and both did well enough to complete our time of study. We will now head North to our place of service in Sayaxche'. We expect the next few weeks/ months to be kind of crazy as we will continue living in transition mode until we find a home. We plan to make our first trip up that way next week to begin getting the word out that we are looking for rental property. Please be in prayer for that trip that it would be successful! Pray that we could quickly find a house that is safe and adequate for our family. We are now eager to get moved and settled in so we can begin our work there among the K'ekchi' people.

We will finish our time in language school this week. We will be sad to leave the school and friends we have there. They are all like our family. We thank you for your prayers for us during our time of study. They have meant a lot to us. Also, your annual offerings have helped pay for us to go to school. We thank you for your sacrificial giving. We hope to now use our language skills to be a witness among the people here. Your giving gives you a part in that.

Cruz turned 3 months old on the 26th of August. Time is flying by with him. He now weighs 16 lbs. 12 ozs. (double his birth weight). He is a growing, happy baby! He is changing so fast and is the joy of our lives! We thank you for your prayers for him as well.

We finished the paperwork process for our permanent residence visas. We will now wait to receive our identification cards. We also received Cruz's U.S. passport and birth certificate. We are now waiting to hear if we can get his Guatemalan birth certificate changed so that we can apply for his Guatemalan passport.

As we face another change and move we ask that you pray us through it. Pray for our safety as we travel (Sayaxche' is 8 hours from here). Pray that Cruz will travel well and adjust to the different environments we will be staying in. Pray that we will make some good contacts on our trip next week and won't have to search too long before finding something. Pray for patience during this time (moving is never easy) and that we will stay focused on the task ahead. Pray that we would be a good witness wherever we go. You can visit our blog: www.davidandregina.blogspot.com to follow our progress. We thank you in advance for your prayers for us. Until next time.....

Sending our love,
David, Regina, and Cruz
