Field Trip to an Avocado Farm

This month's field trip was to a local avocado farm.  It's in the town of San Mateo Milpas Altas which is less than 30 minutes from our house. I have been wanting to visit it since we moved to Antigua but we have just never made it happen.  This week we finally did.  Yay!!  Here is a look at our fun, afternoon outing.

In addition to the avocado farm they also have a restaurant, spa, and eco hotel.  The hotel is actually several individual cabins that you can rent.  I made a mental note about that for future reference.  The restaurant is very good.  I think we will return another day just to eat there.

Just a few of the many cute avocado themed posters hanging in the restaurant.

David and I never ate avocados until we moved to Guatemala.  Now we love them and eat them often.  The boys have been eating them since they were babies and love them too.

Hiking through the farm.  They have over 1,000 avocado trees on the property.  We learned a lot of interesting facts along the way.

We loved this giant avocado shaped photo prop that overlooks the property.

At the end of the tour we did a two station zip line.

They were very excited!

We finished the outing with a visit to the restaurant.  Avocado ice cream was included with the tour.

It was frozen on a stick and covered in chocolate and coconut shavings.  David really enjoyed it (the boys and I not so much).

We ordered a few things to eat and also this avocado smoothie.

Lastly, the boys each got a coffee mug that they'll use for hot chocolate on Friday movie nights.

Aren't these cute?

We had a great time and we look forward to returning again one day.  Maybe you can join us.
