Letters W and X

Today begins our last full week of homeschool before the first half of the kindergarten year ends.  I pray that we finish strong! Here is a look at what we did last week.

We began the week by learning that W if for wagon and made this cute wagon craft.

We read the story of Jonah and learned about whales.

We ate watermelon and made a watermelon craft.

W is for watermelon

We learned about wolves.  My boys loved that!  We made this wolf craft.  We read "The Three Little Pigs" and "Little Red Riding Hood" because both have a big bad wolf in them.

W is for windmills

We watched several Woody Woodpecker videos and did this color sheet.

W is for worm

We learned this nursery rhyme

One of the story time books we read was this book that I got on our last trip to the States.  Afterwards we talked about all things winter.  I also love referencing our home every chance I get.

Our other letter for the week was letter X.  We watched several great videos about kids having x-rays.  I think if my boys had to go any time soon they would know what to expect.  But, hopefully they won't have to!  ha

we learned about foxes

We watched a few videos of people playing xylophones and then we made this craft.

I gave Cruz a roll of tape and he made X's all over the floor.

In math we did skip counting by 2's.

In addition to our math worksheets we learned a fun song and did a lot of practice by counting objects.  Here is Cruz counting noodles by 2's.

In science we studied trees.  We learned that trees have three parts- a crown, a trunk, and roots.

In our read aloud time we read the book 8 Class Pets + 1 Squirrel / 1 Dog= CHAOS by Vivian Vande Velde.  It was a cute story.

In Bible we continued through the Christmas story and sang our Christmas songs.  The memory verse for the week was Psalm 34:13- Keep thy tongue from evil.  Here is Cruz saying it-

Our Bible stories were about the angels and the wise men.
We made these handprint and footprint angels.

and we had this angel pancake breakfast.

I am doing a Christmas Book just like our Thanksgiving Book to put all of Cruz's crafts and papers inside.  Who knew kindergarten could be so much fun!
