Taking It Easy

I find that I look forward to the weekends now more than ever since starting homeschool.  I like the two day break.  I like sleeping in (when our boys will let us).  I also like just lounging around being lazy (when our boys will let us do that too, ha).  It's fun.  I recharge and am usually ready to go again by Monday morning.  This past weekend was one of those being lazy kind of weekends.  We did not have a whole lot planned and took advantage of the down time because life is about to get busy for the next few weeks.

One of my favorite local places to visit is a place called Laurelles.  It's about 5 minutes down the road from us.  It's a hotel/ restaurant/ mini zoo/ ranch.  It is a huge place with beautiful mountain views and wide open spaces.  We like to go and take the boy's bicycles to let them ride and burn off some energy.  We went Friday afternoon and invited our friends the McIntyres to join us.

We were able to watch a beautiful sunset while there!

The kids had a great time playing together.

Afterwards we went to their house for pizza and more play time.

They joined us again on Saturday afternoon at the pool next door.

On Saturday evening we enjoyed a visit from fellow IMB missionaries Mark and Debby Fricke.  It is always a joy to have dinner guests in our home.    We ate Pulled BBQ Chicken Sandwiches and French fries for our meal and then enjoyed some Christmas Crack for our dessert.  It was the first time for me to make that candy and we loved it.  It is addicting though and you cannot quit eating it!  The chicken is a great company meal because you just throw all of the ingredients into the crockpot and visit while it cooks.  It's simple, easy, and delicious.  (It was 93 degrees on Saturday so don't even ask why Cruz has on track pants, a jacket with a t-shirt over it, and socks.  That boy is living in his own little world!)

Debby always brings the boys candy.  Here she is giving it to them after supper.  They gave her BIG hugs in return.

That evening we watched the LSU vs Alabama football game.  I had been looking forward to it all week.  I love a big rival football game!

David led Bible study in the village of Nearar on Sunday morning.  Miguel (from the village of Chanco) went with him.

That evening we planned a movie night.  We borrowed the movie Inside Out from the McIntyres and wanted to watch it.  We drove into town and picked up some McDonald's for supper and then had a picnic in our living room floor while watching the movie.   It was a really fun night and great way to end the weekend.

We set up the projector and watched it indoors instead of our normal outdoor movie night.  It was something different and fun.

It was a great weekend filled with fellowship and fun.  I'll take more like that any day.
