January 2014 Newsletter

Greetings from Mississippi! My lack of updating is a true example of just how busy our life has been since arriving in the States. In the past seven years I have only missed sending out one monthly newsletter. December 2013 makes the second. We arrived in the States on November 20 and we still barely feel like our feet have hit the ground. Being in the States during the holiday season has been a little overwhelming for all of us. There have been many days already that I miss the slow pace of Guatemala.

We have enjoyed getting to be home to promote the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering in person this year. It has been great to be in different churches and personally thank those who give and support us. We will continue speaking and sharing about our work up until the time we return to Guatemala later this year. We still have some openings so if you would like us to come share with your church or group just let us know.

Now that the holidays have passed we are looking forward to getting into a regular daily routine around here. Cruz starts preschool tomorrow (Tuesday) and I feel certain that it will help us get more organized. He is looking forward to it and I am sure that he will enjoy playing and learning with the other kids. Ben, on the other hand, is going to be a lost puppy without big brother around in the mornings.

In addition to some speaking engagements David has been attending a weekly pastor's meeting on Monday mornings here locally. It is a time of prayer and fellowship for the pastors and David is enjoying getting to be a part of it. I am looking forward to attending a weekly ladies Bible study that will be starting back next week. I am thankful for opportunities like these to fellowship and study in English.

We have stayed in contact with our dear village folks in Guatemala just to let them know that we were thinking of them. Would you join us in praying for them as well? Pray for God to continue to work in their lives and that He would use those simple Bible stories that we have shared with them to teach them more about Himself. We are trusting Him to do great things in their lives and villages. You could be a huge part of that by praying for them. Would you?
