March 2013 Newsletter

Greetings from Guatemala!  Things are continuing to go well in the village of Lagunetas.  We recently started a stove project there with our agricultural partners from Honduras.  So far about ten stoves have been installed.  Our Bible study is going well also.  We have a small, faithful group and have visitors almost every time we meet.  I plan to start sharing Bible stories with the kids there this month also.  I plan to teach them while David is teaching the adults.  Please continue to pray for us as we share God's Word in that village.  Pray for their hearts to receive it well.  There are still no believers (that we know of) in that village.

David did two Bible studies in the village of Nearar during February.  As he traveled there one particular Sunday morning he was a little discouraged because there just does not seem to be much growth going on there.  Outside of the family whose home we meet in there is not a lot of interest in people coming.  We understand that most of that is due to the persecution from the village leaders about getting involved with us.  Anyway, that day he had three new people attend as well as two men who had not been in a while.  That really lifted his spirits and gave him the drive to keep pressing on.  God is Good in reminding us that He is in control and He is still working even when we cannot see it.

We had a lot of fellowship opportunities during February.  Those always make us happy.  In addition to some visits and gatherings with some local missionaries we had Wendall and Jane Parker come for a weekend visit.  It was such a blessing to all of us to have them in our home.  They are retired IMB missionaries who helped mentor us when we arrived on the mission field.  We also attended a weekend conference in the town of Panajachel for all English speaking missionaries serving in Guatemala.  It was a time to grow spiritually as well as relax and visit with others serving around us.  We had a wonderful time there!

Please continue to pray that we would be a shining light for Christ in our little part of the world and that God would continue to use us to grow His kingdom.
