February 2013 Newsletter

Greetings from Guatemala!  We had a prayer request answered recently.  We finally began having a Bible study in the village of Lagunetas.  So far we have met three times.  Right now it is primarily just the youth who attended the institute training in Honduras.  We are encouraging them to invite their family and friends.  Please continue to pray for this village, and the new Bible study we have started there.

We missed a few weeks of study in the village of Nearar due to the new study in Lagunetas.   In spite of that David has still been there twice this month to teach.  We are going to try to shift our days around some so that we can try to be in both villages regularly to study.  We might have to do one every other week in each place, or do one on Saturday.  Pray with us as we seek God's direction on this.  Finding time to fit in two Bible studies is a great problem to have!

Ben turned nine months old and we celebrated with a trip to Chuck E. Cheese's while in Guatemala City.  Cruz began attending a local preschool and is loving it.  He is never ready to leave when we go to pick him up.  I take that as a good sign.  We have already seen improvements in his Spanish vocabulary in just two short weeks.

This month we will be working with fellow missionary Dan Watson from Honduras to begin a stove project in the village of Lagunetas.  We will be spending two days there installing five stoves in different homes.  He will be teaching the agricultural students how to do the installation and they will be helping us in the project.

At the end of the month we will be attending an Intermissions Conference for all English speaking missionaries serving in Guatemala.  We are looking forward to a time of worship and fellowship there led by a wonderful servant team from the States.

Also this month we ask you to pray for some leadership training that will be taking place among the Kekchi people.  Our former supervisor Jim McGriff, his brother-in-law Dr. David McGowan, Wendall and Jane Parker, and Fran Eachus will all be leading this.  They will do training in Las Casas Feb. 19-20, in Sayaxche Feb. 21-22, and in Coban Feb. 25-26.  We are looking forward to seeing them while they are here.

Thanks for your continued prayers for us and our ministry.  You may never know until you get to heaven just what a difference your prayers have made.  Thank you!
