New Year's Day 2013

New Year's Day began with a continental breakfast at the hotel- corn flakes, banana, toast, jelly, orange juice, and coffee.  After eating we checked out and headed over to Macaw Mountain Bird Park.  It was our second time to visit there.  We really like it.

David and Ben

Cruz liked playing in the water.  There is a creek that runs through the park and several small waterfalls.  It's a really pretty place.

There are several coffee plants at the park.  David enjoyed showing them to Cruz.  He picked a few beans and even tasted one.

My favorite part of the park (other than the scenery) is getting to hold the birds.  We had told Cruz that he could hold one and he was looking forward to it.  When we asked the worker he said no.  He was afraid the birds might bite him.  We are glad now that we didn't let him do it.  The blue bird bit a hole in David's shirt sleeve and in my shirt also.  I am certain it would have scared Cruz (it scared me, haha)

beautiful!

David snapped this photo just as the bird reached and bit a hole in my shirt.

The worker put them on Ben's stroller.  He just sat real still and watched them.

We ate lunch at the park restaurant- Jungle Bistro.  It's priced for tourists, but when we considered having to drive back into town, find somewhere to park, and walk to a restaurant to eat we figured it was worth it for the convenience.  I am glad we did.  It was a nice lunch.

We ate at one of the tables on this bridge overlooking the creek.  Nice!

I had grilled tilapia, beans, rice, pasta, and tortillas.  David ate chicken quesadillas.  Cruz shared both of our meals.

Our family photo at the park.
We cannot wait to return again when Ben gets a little older and can walk around and enjoy it.

Just for fun this was our family photo there on our last visit- February 2012.  Cruz was just 21 months old and I was 7 months pregnant with Ben.  My how time flies!

We got back home in the early afternoon and spent the rest of the day letting the kids play.  We cooked on the grill for supper and all went to bed early.  After our long New Year's Eve night we were all ready for a good nights sleep.

Happy New Year everyone!  We pray that God greatly blesses each of you in this new year.
