Ben's 9 Month Check-Up

On Tuesday both boys had check-ups with the pediatrician.  We traveled into Guatemala City.  Our appointments were at 12:00 noon.  We encountered road construction along the way and were stopped for an hour and 40 minutes without moving one inch.  It caused us to have to cancel our appointments and reschedule for the afternoon.  The clinic is closed from 1-3 for lunch.  They had no openings for the afternoon.  Thankfully they told us if we could get there right at 3 they would work us in.  Normally we do not do doctor's appointments for the same day we travel in for this exact reason.  I am pretty sure we will not be doing it again.

The boys playing at a local mall before our appointments.

Ben went first.  He was getting his 9 month check-up.  He only weighs 16.4.  The doctor has not been real concerned about his slow weight gain up until now.  He thinks that because Ben is so active now that he needs some extra calories.  He wants us to supplement him an extra 8 ounces of formula each day.  We are trying to do that in a sippie cup.  I will continue to nurse for now.  He wants to weigh him again in a month.

He only smiled for a while and then the tears came.  He did not enjoy getting examined by Dr. Hagan this time.

He got a good check-up.  He was not scheduled for any vaccines so he is done until April.

Cruz got checked out as well.  He weighs 31 pounds and is 37 inches tall.  He is very healthy and we consider that a blessing!
