Don't Rain On My Parade

It is celebration time around here!  Tomorrow (the 15th) is Independence Day in Guatemala.  There have been activities going on for a while.  Each night last week different schools had programs in the central park.  We attended the one of the local school by our house.  The schools also celebrate with parades.  Today was the children's parade.  It began at 8:00 this morning.  It was a little drizzly, and everyone was hoping the rains would hold off.  It has been very rainy the past few days.  It was fun to see all of the kids dressed in different costumes and uniforms.  Tomorrow is the older kids parade.  We are looking forward to attending it as well, to hearing the bands, and seeing some familiar faces of the kids we know.

Here are a few photos of today's parade-

Afterwards we drove up north and had lunch on the lake.  We also bought a few groceries/ supplies at the store there.  Before heading back home we stopped by Burger King to get dessert and let Cruz burn off some energy on the playland.  He had a blast and then slept all the way home!  We are all looking forward to tomorrow's activities.
