October 2010 Newsletter

Greetings from Guatemala! Hope you all are enjoying some nice fall weather. We are in the middle of rainy season here and it has been a record breaking year for rainfall! The roads are in terrible condition and mudslides are now common. There has also been a lot of flooding all over the Country and many people are affected and suffering during this time. It is a sad situation.

We finished language school the first week of September and moved, temporarily, back to our apartment in Coban. We have made two trips to the Sayaxche' area looking for a house to rent. It has been an interesting adventure. We tried to make a third trip up that way Saturday, but the roads were blocked due to waist high water covering a section of the road. We have found a house that we would like to rent but it is not ready for us to move in yet. Because of that, we have decided to take a short, two week vacation back to the States to visit our families while we wait. We are excited for Cruz to meet everyone for the first time! We will be flying to Mississippi this Tuesday, Oct. 5th, and return on Tuesday, Oct. 19th.

Once we return we'll head back up north and hopefully finalize our rental agreement and be on the move. We are very anxious to get moved and settled in so that we can begin working among the K'ekchi' in Northern Guatemala.

Cruz is doing great! He turned four months old on the 26th and is growing too fast. You can click HERE to read about what he's been up to lately.

We appreciate your interest in our ministry and we thank you for praying for us! Until next time...

Sending our love,
David, Regina, and Cruz
