Sunday Service

Today we attended service at Templo Bautista Betel. It is in Sacanila, which is between Carcha and Chamelco. It is a large K'ekchi' church compared to most. A typical K'ekchi' service is like most back home, Sunday School from 9-10 and service from 10-12.
This was the first Sunday of 2009 so we started the new church year with new Sunday School books. This year's study will be on the Bible. Today's lesson was an overview of the entire Bible and then they will take a book or two each Sunday and study it. We think this is a great study for them to learn more about God's Word. We enjoyed today how they were taught the number of books in the Old Testament, the number in the New Testament, what the Old Testament is about, what the New Testament is about, and why the Bible is important to us. We think it's going to be a great year for Sunday School.

Today's memory verse was Psalms 119:11:
"I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you."
Here it is in K'ekchi'-
"Junelic ninq'ue sa' inch'ol la cuatin re nak inc'a' tinmacobk chacuu."
Pray that this would be the desire of many K'ekchi' this year, to not only study and know God's word but to hide it in their hearts.
We had a regular worship service and at the end there was a baby dedication time. These are always special times and we are always glad when we are present to witness them.
