Homeschool Curriculum Choices for 4th and 6th grade (2021-2022)

Our school year is off to a great start.  Here is a look at what we are using for 4th and 6th grade.

The boys started these devotion books last school year and are continuing to work through them each school morning.  I ordered them from Amazon.

We use this music CD from Abeka to begin our school day.  We say the Pledge of Allegiance and then sing a patriotic song.  We also sing a few different Bible songs each week from this CD.

This year we are using To Every Nation by Not Consumed.   It is a study of 12 different missionaries.  We will spend three weeks on each.

We have been using A Reason For Handwriting for many years.  This year they are doing levels D and F.

We love Math U See and have used it since kindergarten.  This year we are on levels Zeta and Delta.

These 180 Days of... are a favorite of mine.  I order them from Amazon.  We are currently doing Spelling & Word Study, Reading, and Language.  They are available in other subjects also and are great for extra practice and review.

This is our third year using Fix It! Grammar. I start it in 4th grade. Ben is in Book 1 and Cruz is in Book 3.

Cruz will be doing an online IEW (Institute for Excellence in Writing) writing class again this school year.   This year's theme is Ancient History.  I start IEW in 4th grade which means Ben will also be doing a class this year.  I have signed him up for an introduction class that will begin later this fall.  His theme will be Aesop's Fables.

Since we are Stateside for the first semester of school, I chose to study Mississippi History.  I ordered the master lesson plan and student booklets from Rainbow Resource Center.  You can get them for all States.  The My State Notebook goes with it and is sold through Abeka.

I love Apologia for Science!!  It is our third year using it and I cannot praise it enough.   This year we are doing their new Earth Science.  Their Young Explorer series for elementary is outstanding.

We do a lot of reading each day.  In addition to the 180 Days of  Reading workbooks, we use these reading books from BJU Press. They are filled with compelling stories and Biblical themes that reinforce Christian character.

These are the chapter books they will be reading this school year.

For Art, we will be working through this book by Artistic Pursuits.  This is a great curriculum that covers art history, art instruction, and art technique for all grade levels.

We will once again be using Keyboarding Without Tears.  The lessons are short and give great daily keyboarding practice.

I look forward to using these resources with my boys and pray that they will provide a great year of learning for them.
