July 4, 2020

We had a simple Independence Day at home.  Here is how we celebrated this year.

We started the day off with homemade waffles.  I used fruit to make them look like the flag.  When you added a little honey on top it made for a delicious breakfast.

For lunch we grilled hot dogs.  We had chips and French fries to go with it.  I had decorated indoors but the boys decided they wanted to eat in the back yard instead.  We set up a table and moved a few decorations out there.

We made homemade vanilla ice cream for dessert. Yum!!

We also made this chocolate chip cookie cake.

Lastly, we had star shaped jello jigglers.

After eating we did a few worksheets I had printed out.  We also had a brief History lesson on why we celebrate the 4th of July.

We then played games.  It is a favorite pastime of ours. We were playing Monopoly Deal.

We looked up at one point and all admired the beautiful blue skies over head.   It was a really pretty day.

Later that afternoon we took some family photos.

We went for a walk before the evening curfew started.  It began to rain before we got back home which made for a wet, but fun mess.

It continued to rain most of the evening.  We had pizza for supper.  We turned out the lights in the living room and watched a replay of an Independence Day fireworks show that Disney did a few years ago.  I had seen it advertised on Facebook and wanted to watch it.  It was beautiful! Disney does the best fireworks.  It was a great way to end our day.

Happy 4th of July everyone!!  We hope you had a fun day celebrating.
