Easter 2018

I did not decorate early for Easter this year.  As a matter of fact I did not decorate at all until the boys went to bed the night before.  I probably would have just let it pass by if Cruz had not asked me at bedtime where the decorations were and why I had not put any out this year.  So, as soon as they were asleep I went into the kitchen to hang a few balloons and streamers  and also set the table for breakfast the next morning.  It was simple but they were so excited to see it the next day.

In the center of the table I put our resurrection eggs in a bowl.  We opened them one at a time and read the part of the Easter story that goes with them.  I love using these each year to talk about the Easter story.

For breakfast we had banana pancakes.  I shaped them like hearts and put a cross in the middle.  It was a visual to remind the boys of Jesus' love for them by dying on the cross.

We took a few family photos-

We then headed up the mountain for Bible study in the village of Nearar.  David was teaching that morning on the resurrection.  It was a follow-up to the movie we had shown the night before in the village.  We had a great service there that day.

We stopped for lunch at a local restaurant just down the road from our house that had opened while we were in the States.  We had been wanting to try it out so we did for Easter lunch.  It was good and I'm sure we will be back soon.  Here is Cruz enjoying his favorite local drink- Rosa Jamaica.

We did not do Easter gifts.  The only thing the boys asked for was a Hershey bar (and I forgot to buy them early).  Before heading home we stopped by a gas station and let them pick one out.  They squealed with excitement.

We spent the rest of the day just lounging around.  We had been to the village four out of the past five days.  We were tired.   It was good to have a little down time and spend it quietly at home as a family.

Hope you had a great Easter too.
