Biking, Baking, and Bible Studies

I guess one of the biggest events that has happened around here lately was Ben learning to ride his bike without training wheels.  He just woke up one morning and decided he wanted to learn how to ride.  He helped his daddy take them off and then off he went.  He is so proud of himself and we are very proud of him too.  I'll admit that it did make my heart a little sad.  It was just another reminder that my boys are growing up.  I'm happy to see them grow and learn to do new things but inside I mourn just a little.

This picture makes me smile.  That's a lot of love right there.

Cruz did a great job of encouraging him and helping him.

He learned to ride his bike on a Saturday and then the next day he got sick.  He ran fever for four straight days.  After a trip to the doctor and some medicine it finally broke and he got well.  Poor little thing had a rough week.

Here are the boys playing an old Atari game system we have.  Centipede is their favorite.

I've done a lot of baking lately.  I've made several loaves of yeast bread and a few loaves of pumpkin bread.  I've baked cookies, candy, and made Rice Krispies treats twice.  I also baked (for the first time) a batch of mini pecan pies.

A few of my mini pecan pies.  I'll be making these again.  Yum!

We had four Bible studies/ services last week.  The first one was Thursday in Muyurco.   I stayed home with Ben and sent Cruz off with David.  Many of our Bible study regular attendees are sick too with fever and flu like symptoms.  Pray that everyone in that area can get well.

On Friday night David attended a special service at Bro. Fito's church here in Chiquimula.  It was a service to recognize the church leaders for the new year and to pray over them.  It was a great service and a sweet time of fellowship there.

David taught in Nearar on Sunday morning.  On Sunday afternoon we all traveled to the village of El Palmar to be a part of their evening service. It was good to be with Bro. Jose Maria again to encourage him.  It was also good to see the progress on their church building.

These photos were taken on Sunday evening.  They were scheduled to begin putting the roof on Monday morning.  Bro. Fito was sending a group of men from his church to help them.  I love how they are working together!  We will be anxious to return and see the progress.

You can imagine how much fun my boys had playing around on this backhoe before the service started.

What little boy isn't fascinated by heavy equipment?  I know my two are!

Lastly, Ben snapped this photo of us while we waited on everyone to gather for the service.  David ended up preaching and sharing his testimony.  I thought he did a wonderful job!  The service was great and we look forward to returning again to worship there with them.

It's now Thursday again and we'll be headed back to Muyurco in the afternoon for Bible study.  David will be teaching again on Sunday morning in Nearar.  Then, on Sunday evening, our next team will be arriving.  We are very excited.  It has been a few months since our last team was here and we are ready for some fellowship time.  We look forward to a great week together and ask you to cover us in prayer as we go out and share the Gospel with them.

  1. The boys are getting so big...and still quite adorable! :) Sounds like lots of great things happening! And I'm glad Ben is all better.
