Halloween 2015

Halloween is not celebrated here so there is no trick or treating, carnivals, or truck or treats to attend.  It's just a normal day except for what we make it in our home.  We don't do a whole lot for Halloween.   It's mostly just a celebration of fall and pumpkins.  We do have a few traditions that I started to make it a fun day for the boys.

I always make pumpkin pancakes for our breakfast.  You just add 1/2 cup pumpkin puree to your regular pancake batter.  I also add in a pinch of pumpkin pie spice.  They are so good!  This year I used M&M's to decorate for the boys.  They loved them!

As with most every holiday we took family photos after breakfast.  I love having holiday pictures to look back at each year.  I'll treasure these in the years to come.  Although I was trying to create a fall theme in our home it definitely did not feel like fall outside.  The high for Saturday was 99 and the high for Sunday was 100.  It was a HOT weekend!  It was already 90 degrees at 9:00 that morning while we were taking pictures. We were a sweaty mess!

I also love to take photos of the boys each fall with a pumpkin both together and individual.

Mrs. Anne, from our last team brought the boys several fun fall things.  I saved them for Halloween.  They loved their pirate patches and I loved these felt stickers to put on our pumpkins.

We invited another family over that evening to celebrate with us.  The boys were excited to have some friends over to play with.  Here they are dressed in their costumes for the night.

Each year it has been our tradition to grill hot dogs and watch an outdoor movie.  We always watch "It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown".  My boys had looked forward to it all week long.  We also had homemade macaroni and cheese and chips to go with it.

our dessert was these chocolate cupcakes

and of course we had our holiday staple food- jello jigglers.

Ben, Cruz, Levi, Mary Kathleen, and Uriah during the movie

Our guests stayed for a while and we laughed and talked for hours while the kids played together.  It was a really fun night and what made this year extra fun was having some friends to share it with.  Holidays are my favorite days of the year!
