Hot Dogs And Free Birds

I decided we would eat hot dogs for supper last Friday night.  Instead of cooking them inside I asked David if he thought we could build a fire and roast them in the backyard. We are not sure if that is even allowed here in town but we gave it a try.  When the boys got up from their afternoon naps we spent a little time picking up limbs and making a pile to burn.  They were excited about the whole idea.

While we waited for suppertime Cruz and I drove to the store to rent a movie.  Another thing I had planned to do was watch a movie outdoors.  We had started doing that at our home in Guatemala before we came to the States and it's something that I am certain we will continue to do when we return.  It's just fun- plain and simple fun!  Anyway, we went to a local redbox machine.  We have never used one before so I had no clue what to do.  Thankfully a sweet lady ahead of me walked me through it and we got a movie.  Cruz picked out "Free Birds".  It's a cartoon movie about turkeys and Thanksgiving.  It was cute although they used WAY too many slang words for me so it's not something we'd watch again (at least not for a long time).
I cannot believe this has been right down the road from us for the past 5 months and we have not used it before.

We ate our supper outside.  The weather was wonderful and perfect for eating outdoors.  After supper we roasted some marshmallows.

When our bellies were full David set up the projector and screen while I laid out the blankets and pillows for our movie.

eagerly waiting for the movie to start

We started it a little before dark because it was 1.5 hours long.  The boys both sat through the whole movie and only got up to get something to drink.  We were both impressed at how well they did.

chillin' on a Friday night

what a fun memory we made!

Yeah, I'd say outdoor movie night is a big hit with our family and I can't wait to do it again soon.

  1. Hi. What part of Guatemala are you in? I am in Coban, Alta Verapaz with my husband who is a native and our toddler who was born here.
