Enjoying The Views

We dropped Cruz off at school last Thursday morning and set out on the mountain roads in search of some Chorti speakers.  The Lubeck's told us about an area to visit where we might could find some.

The scenery in our area never gets old!  We love living in the mountains, traveling through the mountains, and just taking in the mountain views.

taking a little time to enjoy the view

We drove up the mountain for over an hour.  The more we drove the more remote it became.  We also began to encounter more and more women dressed in typical Chorti clothing.  Before long we were only seeing Chorti people.  We found out that on Wednesday's and Thursday's there is a vehicle similar to ours that visits that area and sells medicines to the people for really cheap.  They also sell medicines for their animals.  Well, because of that people were coming out to the road to greet us because they thought we were the medicine people.  How cool is that because it gave us a perfect opportunity to talk to some of them.
We got to talk to this lady and ask her several questions about the area and people.  She is a Chorti speaker and responded to David when he greeted her in Chorti.  She smiled and we smiled.  She let me take this photo of her and her boys.  Would you pray for her and the many, many more like her in our area who are unreached.

I snapped this photo of some ladies walking down the road.  You can see more of the typical Chorti dress.  The ladies wear bright, colorful outfits.  They mix and match the blouses and skirts.  It is very pretty.

I recently bought my first Chorti outfit to wear when we go on Stateside later this year.  I plan to wear it when we share about our work.  I love dressing in typical clothing when we visit churches to show how the women dress.  It's fun.

We plan to spend another morning this week traveling the mountain roads looking for open doors to share the gospel.  Would you pray for God's protection over us as we go, and for "divine encounters" with those we meet along the way.  We are trying to find a village with Chorti speakers that we could begin a Bible study in.  Would you also pray for that.  Thanks!

As we traveled that day I was reminded of a poem I learned as a child:

All things bright and beautiful,
All creatures great and small,
All things wise and wonderful:
The Lord God made them all.

He gave us eyes to see them,
And lips that we might tell
How great is God Almighty,
Who has made all things well.

How true is that!
