Changing Things Up A Little

We have been busy bees this week getting some things done around the house.  We have done very little decorating since we arrived back in January.  I was six months pregnant then, and it was all I could do to unpack and get settled, especially with a very active almost two year old running around.  It's been over seven months now and I still have very little energy to do much, haha.  One of the things on my "to do" list was to paint the guest bathroom.  Monday while in Chiquimula buying groceries we picked up a gallon of paint.  David spent Tuesday morning painting it along with a little help from Cruz.
It was green before

working hard

and now it's bright, clean, and white.  It looks much better!

I have sorted through Ben's clothes and packed up most of his 0-3 month things.  I unpacked, washed, and hung up the rest of his 3-6 month things.  It is always sad when I put something away.  It is a small reminder that my baby is growing up.  I never realized how many clothes Cruz had until I started unpacking them for Ben.  It sure makes me glad that baby #2 was a boy and we can get another use out of them.

Cruz enjoyed playing in the empty suitcases.  He would fill them with books and toys and then sit inside and throw them out- one at a time.  That boy can make a mess FAST.

I have started doing a little packing for our vacation trip to the States in October.  We are soo looking forward to spending some time with family and friends and letting them get to love on our boys (and us too, but we know that these days it's all about the kids).

I also sorted through my maternity clothes and loaned them out to a missionary friend who is expecting.  That was much harder than packing up baby clothes!  I am so wishing I was younger.  I would love to have another baby. (sniff, sniff)

Cruz has entertained us well this week.  There is never a dull moment when he is around.

I wanna be a cowboy...

Several  months ago we purchased Cruz a bike called the Easy Rider.  We found it on clearance for real cheap.  It has no pedals, and is supposed to teach them balance so they can transition to a "real" bike.  He loves it and glides around the house all day long.  He has gotten pretty good on it.  The store had about twelve of them left when we bought it.  The only problem was they were all pepto bismol pink.  We bought it anyway and took it to a local shop and had it painted blue.  The paint job cost almost as much as the bike itself.  haha We plan on getting him a regular bicycle for Christmas.

The other day David let him ride Ben on the back.  He thought that was so cool.

We visited a local school in the neighboring town of Jocotan to meet with the director about Cruz starting preschool there next year.  They have a three year old class.  The school year here is January through October.  I am having mixed emotions about sending him, but I know he would love the social interaction with the other kids.  We mainly want him to go to learn Spanish.  We plan to pray about it a little more and make a decision soon about enrolling him.

One morning David hung him a temporary swing and he had a blast monkeying around on it.

We have also started transitioning the boys into their own shared room this week.  So far it is going well.  We moved a twin bed in for Cruz, and Ben is now sleeping in his crib.  We purchased some fabric to have curtains made in there, and hope to get them back in a few days.  I'll write more about this in another post.

It has been an exhausting week.  Ben is wanting to eat every 3-4 hours at night and Cruz is back to waking up between 5-5:30 a.m. (his normal is 6-6:30)  It makes for long, tiring days!  This too shall pass, right?

We are looking forward to Sunday and the two Bible studies we will be doing in the village of Nearar.  Will you join us in prayer for each of these?

Have a great weekend!

  1. Hang in there! I remember Noel went through a growth spurt around 3.5 or 4 months, waking in the middle of the night twice, and I was so exhausted. But right after that growth spurt she started sleeping ALL night long...it was glorious. It'll get better. =)
