How I Passed The Big One

This past Saturday I celebrated my 40th birthday.  Yes, I admit it- the BIG 40!  It sounds worse than it feels, haha.  I thought for a while about how I would like to spend the day.  There was a yearly weekend retreat going on for all the missionaries from all organizations in Guatemala that weekend and we really wanted to attend it.  We debated for a while about whether or not to go.  When it came down to it I really did not want to spend my birthday there.  I think I was wanting something a little more low key and quiet.  I also did not want to travel very far and the conference would have been about six hours away.

On our last trip over before our move to visit the area where we now live we stopped for lunch at a waterpark that is on the way.  We immediately thought it was a beautiful place and wanted to return.  We found out that during the months of Januray and February they were having a 2x1 special on their rooms.  I mentioned then that I might want to return for my birthday.  After the move we did not really come up with any other options of places to go around this area so we decided to give the waterpark a try.  We were not disappointed.  It turned out to be a very nice, relaxing way to spend my birthday.  We had a wonderful time just relaxing and playing as a family and made a lot of sweet memories.  We hope to return there later this year as a family of four.

Here are a few photos from our weekend:
my birthday breakfast-
a cheese omelet, black beans, fried plantains, fresh cheese, cream, chirmol, a fruit plate, orange juice, and coffee.  It was delicious!!!

We loved the whole waterpark but this was our favorite area.  It was just the right size for Cruz.

There were many pools spread throughout the park.  There was also many waterslides, playgrounds, putt putt golf, a tennis court, a basketball court, a soccer field, a zipline, paddle boats, jogging trail, and more.  They offer a lot for all ages.

David and Cruz enjoyed a few of the smaller waterslides

I enjoyed relaxing, reading, getting some sun, and taking pictures of David and Cruz playing.

I really, really enjoyed this birthday.  It was a lot of fun!  When I turned 30 I thought the world would come to an end.  I took it really hard!  I must say that so far this milestone has passed very easily.  I guess it's just that I am happy in life right now and feel very blessed.  Age is just a number, right?

  1. Oh my - I've been absent WAY too long! Cruz growing into quite the young little man and I see another is on the way (see how long it's been!) Glad 40 came and went without a "hitch" :) The Big 40 didn't bother me either, but we'll see how well I handle the Big 60 next year - LOL Y'all look great! Will continue to pray for your work in Guatemala.

    Love in Christ - Cathy
