Date Night

Notice anything missing from the photo below???
Yes, that's right, no Cruz.
While in Guatemala City this past weekend we got the chance to go out to eat by ourselves.  It was a quick decision.  Another missionary couple offered to watch him  play with him so we could spend a few moments alone.   We jumped on the opportunity and got ready real quick and left.  It was late afternoon so we ate an early supper so we could be back in time to feed, and give him his bath.  It was the first meal we had ever eaten without Cruz.  I wish I could say it was a nice, romantic time for us, ha, but as most parents do we spent most of the time talking about Cruz, wondering how he was doing, if he was crying, if he missed us, etc.  We also spent a lot of time talking about work.  We went to eat at TGI Friday's, the loudest restaurant in Guatemala!  Not sure what we were thinking by doing that, lol.  In spite of it all, it was soo good to eat and not have to wrestle a child, pick toys up over and over, and just get to talk without interumptions.  It was refreshing!
Karen and Jeff- Cruz's first babysitters
They said he did fine (doesn't everyone tell parents that).   He was napping when we left and they said when he woke up he was really looking for us.   Poor baby, I don't think there has been a moment yet when at least one of us was not around for him to see.  He's only fussing in the photo above because I was holding him and gave him back to get his photo.  He was not liking that.  He did have a fun time while we were gone.

I looked back and found this photo of us the last time we went out to eat alone.  It was right before Cruz was born.  I wanted steak as my last meal so we went to a favorite place in Guatemala City to eat.  Who knew it would be seven months, two weeks, and five days before we did it again.

  2. I remember the first time we went to eat without Anna and left her with someone besides family. I think it was the quickest meal we ever ate...almost like we felt as if we were doing something wrong and had to hurry and get her! HA! Glad you got to enjoy your date!
