Week 36

I AM 36 WEEKS TODAY!
ABOUT THE BABY-
It seems as though we are going to have a BIG baby!  I had a check-up today and an ultrasound.  The baby is weighing 7 lbs 2 ozs.   He is still in breech position.  He was sitting "hammock style" similar to the photo below except his feet were in the air.  This was a little upsetting to me, but I know he still has time to move.    I had both doctors present for the ultrasound.  My doctor's colleague seemed concerned that the baby might be too big to deliver naturally, but my doctor was optimistic.   I will go back in two weeks and have another ultrasound and we will determine from there about the delivery.
HOW AM I DOING?
The first thing the doctor did was weigh me.  I have gained 3 pounds in the last 2 weeks (for a total of 26).  He immediately asked me WHAT have you been eating???  I told him that I've made a few too many trips to McDonald's lately.  ha  I have craved their chicken nuggets, fries, and oreo McFlurries.  After checking the baby's weight and seeing how much he is weighing, my doctor told me: NO MORE TORTILLAS, NO MORE CALDO, NO MORE PAN DULCE (sweet bread), AND NO MORE MCDONALD'S.  LOL.  We all had a big laugh.

My feet have been swelling terribly.  By the end of the day I can hardly wear any shoes.  I have also not been able to wear my wedding band for the last two weeks.  Other than getting tired more often, I am doing and feeling great.

We met our pediatrician on Monday.  Here in Guatemala the pediatrician is present at the birth and immediately takes the baby to check him.  He also does the circumcision.  We were very comfortable with him and trust that he will be a great doctor for Cruz.

Here is a photo of me today before the ultrasound-
We've come a long way from our first ultrasound we had here back in October when I was only 8 weeks pregnant.

The photo below shows David's favorite thing about the building our clinic is in.  It has a Cafe Barista in it.  We arrived early enough to enjoy a treat before my appointment.
Please keep us all in your prayers.  We are not quite sure how the next few weeks will unfold, but we are confident that the Lord is in control.

  3. I wouldn't worry about the ultrasound measurements. With my second child they told me he was 7 pounds around the same time, I believe MAYBE a week off, and he was 7lbs 3oz when he was born.

    Stoppin by from SITS!

  6. I think Lane was "hammock style" as well until I was 37 or 38 weeks. Don't worry about it yet!
