Week 24

I am 24 weeks today!

ABOUT THE BABY-
By this week the baby should weigh around 1.25 pounds and be about 8.5 inches long.  He is still receiving oxygen through the placenta. But once birth occurs, his lungs will start taking in oxygen on his own. In preparation for that, his lungs are developing the ability to produce surfactant. Surfactant is a substance that keeps the air sacs in our lungs from collapsing and sticking together when we exhale, allowing us to breathe properly.

Because the inner ear — which controls balance in the body — is now completely developed, the baby may be able to tell when he is upside down or right side up while floating and making movements in the amniotic fluid.
HOW AM I FEELING?
Pretty good.   We have been traveling all this past week so I could use a little extra rest.  Other than that all is well.  I have eaten SOO much over the past few days.  I can't imagine what my weight gain will be next week when we go for our check-up.  Our friends have fed us well!

We are thankful for each week that passes.  Please continue to pray that all goes well and that baby White will be happy with his current home and want to stay there for a few more months.

We'll be registering over the next few days and are looking forward to some upcoming baby showers.

Thanks for your prayers!

  1. Regina,
Congrats on making it to 24 wks. From working in Labor and Delivery, I know how important getting to 24 wks is for unborn babies. Only 16 wks more to go! What time does the service start on March 3? I just looked at my calender and I am off that night, so hopefully I can make it up there for your special night.
