Mixing work and pleasure

We got up Saturday morning, packed our things, and went next door to one of the only restaurants in town for breakfast. We had a good meal and then headed on our way home. About 15 minutes out of town is this sign advertising some Mayan ruins that are in the area.
We have said several times that we would like to go but have never taken the time to stop. Today we went. This is usually a hot area but today was very cloudy and overcast so we thought it would be a good day, weather wise, for hiking through the ruins. Here are a few photos of the drive in-
It went from wide-open to very jungle-like in no time.
When we arrived we were given an overview of the area and shown this small scale map of the ruins. We then headed out on our own to explore.
I love these next few photos of David. He is standing behind a piece of ruin that has a Mayan carved on it. He stretched out his arms as if he were a part of it.

If you look closely you can see a face and body on it.This is a photo of me standing at the base of the national tree- the Ceiba. They are huge trees. Below is a video of the some of the sounds we heard as we were hiking around. It is from howler monkies. It got very loud at times and almost scary. The photo below has four monkies in it but they are hard to spot. They were everywhere.

  2. I love the photos. Looks like something I would enjoy. I've got to get used to the new background. It is kind of contemporary. That is different for you.
