Day 3- Sunday service and our temporary pet

And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Acts 10: 24
We left Las Casas Sunday morning and drove 45 minutes to the town of Raxruha where we attended services in one of our Baptist churches. The people there were very happy to have us. After arriving we realized that they were struggling some and so hopefully by our visiting we were able to encourage them a little. We ask you to say a prayer for the pastor, leaders, and members of this church that God would encourage their hearts, and help them to grow.
We had Sunday School and a worship service with them. When the service was over they fed us lunch before sending us on our way back to Coban. As we were loading up in the car the pastor came running out with a chicken in his hands. He wanted us all to have it as a gift from the church. We know that it was a great sacrifice on their part and were thankful. Our only thought was that we were a few hours from Coban and we were going to have to ride it back home in the car with us! Mrs. Jane took on the task and held it in the floor board beneath her feet all the way back. I am soo thankful she did!!

We talked about our options as to what to do with it. I knew I could not kill it, pluck it, and cook it! No Way!!! Once we returned home we put it in the yard with some water and let it hang out for the night.

We thought about putting it behind our apartment because we were worried about what would happen if the McGriff's dog saw it or got to it. But, we just ended up putting him near the front of the apartments where we could keep an eye on him.

We joked about keeping it for a pet, but we decided to give it to a K'ekchi' lady we know to "fatten" it up and cook. She was happy to take it and we were happy to give it.
