Starting early & finishing late

"Let the light of your face shine upon us, O Lord." Psalm 4:6
Today we met for class at 7:30 A.M. We had to go early because we had a radio recording session scheduled for 9:00ish. Ms. Fran was giving us a review test on all we have covered thus far. It did not turn out to be as bad as we had thought although no test is easy. We went, took the test, and came back home.

While waiting for all the brothers to get here, Wendall, Jane, and Regina walked uptown to catch some of today's parade. Today was more of the middle schools/ high schools and their bands. They can really put on a show playing their instruments.

In order to do the recordings, it needs to be very quiet. Well, on a good day, that is hard around here. Today was quite a challenge. Not only did we have the parade going on uptown, but there are a lot more people and cars in town since it is fair time. That means more traffic re-routed our way and more horns blowing. It also started storming about half way through the first recording. In spite of all the distractions, we were able to get 9 out of 12 of the stories recorded. PTL! You can pray that we can get them edited and burned to CD's soon so that the stations can begin airing them in the next few months.
This is what I did while David and the Parker's helped the brothers with the recordings. Tomorrow is David's birthday and I wanted to bake him a cake. Tonight we are having a get together and we plan to celebrate with the Parker's, the Wiseman's, and Ms. Fran.
I was real excited when I found these Reynold's baking cups in Guatemala City. I thought I would try them out for his birthday. He does not like any type of celebration or "big to-do" for his birthday (so he says, ha). But, since we do not have children I have always tried to do special things for him on his special day, like it or not.
Just in case they don't turn out like I want them to, I have a back up plan. I also baked two small round cakes. If I decide not to use them, they will freeze well. I'll let you know how the "party" goes.
